A typical representation in estate planning begins with a one-hour consultation where we review the client’s goals, all pertinent family considerations, and assets. Matt then proposes a suitable set of documents. If the client agrees to the representation, Matt prepares a set of draft documents for the client’s review and comment. Then, working together, we polish up the draft documents into final form. Reasonable fees are usually set on a per-project basis. Fees are payable at the end of the project.
In a typical administration of the estate of a deceased person, Matt assists the client in the legal papers and reports required to assemble and value estate assets, satisfy charges and claims, and distribute the inheritances properly. In administering the estate of a deceased person, the fee is payable at the end of the administration, subject to the limits imposed by Maryland law and to approval by the court.
